Federal Minister of Finance

Germany’s Federal Minister of Finance Dr Wolfgang Schäuble will greet the LWF Assembly on behalf of the German government.

Finance minister since 2009, he previously held the positions of Chief of the Chancellery and Minister of the Interior. He studied law and economics at the University of Freiburg im Breisgau and in Hamburg, Germany.

He has held various positions in the Christian Democratic Union party, which he joined in 1961.

Schäuble is an active member of the Evangelical Church of Baden.

Lord Mayor of Stuttgart 

Lord Mayor of Stuttgart Dr Wolfgang Schuster will also address the LWF Assembly participants.

Mayor of the Baden-Württemberg capital since 1997, Schuster studied law and political science at universities in Tübingen, Geneva and Freiburg im Breisgau.

A representative of the Christian Democratic Union, he has been on the city council of Ulm, was mayor of Swäbisch Gmünd, 1986-1993, and held other leadership positions in Stuttgart. As part of his interest in inter-cultural dialogue, he is the founder of the Stuttgart Religious Roundtable.
