Saving and Sustaining Lives in Times of HIV and AIDS
In relation to the LWF HIV and AIDS campaign, many churches have responded well in caring for and supporting those living with HIV, but more efforts are needed in prevention.
In the midst of fatigue and declining public attention to the AIDS pandemic there is an urgent need for Lutheran churches to reiterate commitment to priorities such as better nutrition, access to treatment, inclusive acceptance, and especially the SAVE method of prevention—all that is needed to save and sustain lives affected by HIV and AIDS.
During the “‘Daily Bread’ and HIV and AIDS” hearing from 17:15 to 18:00 hrs on 24 July, participants will hear songs and personal testimonies from the Betseranai Advocacy Choir of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Zimbabwe, whose members are living with or affected by
HIV.Participants will be urged to sign on to the March 2010 commitment by the global High Level Summit of Religious Leaders on HIV.
