Youth
Space for Dialogue Between Generations
Many young people in Lutheran churches are acutely aware that some approaches to being a Lutheran church have come under pressure. Others feel that the gospel is presented in a way that does not address today’s challenges.
The LWF provides space for the different generations to dialogue about issues that affect life in church and society. It designates 20 percent of the Assembly delegates to young adults below 30 years of age. The young people attend the assembly not only to learn but to also articulate the concerns and visions of young Christians around the world.
The Eleventh Assembly will have 80 young delegates, who will be joined by nearly 50 stewards.
The stewards provide additional support to the conference logistics, giving further witness to the youth’s vibrant spirit of service in the Lutheran churches. They will make their opinions heard together with those of the young delegates.
Therefore, young people are encouraged to raise their voices already today.
More than Just Helping Hands
Stewards will learn about their global Lutheran communion while providing logistical support to the Assembly.
